lyrics

It's a small town love affair gone horribly wrong
a father's daughter, this beautiful girl
and a boy who did wrong

He left a trail of those who cared for him in his wake as if to say
"I'm leaving this town behind"
He's burnt the bridges to everyone that could understand what he's going through
This girl is haunting his mind, this girl she haunts his mind
He found a bridge that could be useful after all

Anna Louise, she's the cutest he's ever seen
around these parts
Billy Eugene he will die when he's 23.

And nobody will miss him.
(She was so young her father was so in love and so proud of the girl)
Oh when his body goes missing
(He couldn't know when he met the boy that he would destroy his world)
With a knife he found in the kitchen
(3 lives were taken)
On the night that he swore she would kiss him
(the saddest night that this town's ever known)

They both found out the only way to leave this town
Billy Eugene he went to clear himself of all of his sins
Anna Louise she's in the ground
And if her father sees him, he'll tear him apart
(he'll tear him limb from limb, show him just what he did)
but he was searching for a way out of town when he found
a way to drown

Anna Louise she's the cutest he's ever seen
around these parts
Billy Eugene he couldn't handle that she wanted nothing to do with him
Anna Louise received a funeral fit for a queen,
Billy Eugene was never seen.

And nobody will miss him
(he took a leap tried to get clean of all the sins that he'd done)
But they'll miss Anna Louise, ahh the queen
(her father wept and wished that he'd had his very own son)
Just so he wouldn't grow up like him
(First lost the mother, now the daughter now he's losing himself)
a father's epitaph of life and love and death
(Mr. Eugene and Ms. Louise oh what a story to tell)
